Bakersfield CHP officer arrested for suspected DUI

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.-- A Bakersfield California Highway Patrol officer
allegedly showed up drunk to work and was arrested.

CHP officials say veteran officer Ed Marquez arrived for his regular shift on Thursday, September 28. Fellow officers suspected he was drunk.

A chemical test was administered as part of a DUI investigation and officials say Marquez failed the test.

The CHP said Marquez drove to work in his personal vehicle while intoxicated and that Marquez did not drive a state vehicle at any point Thursday.

CHP said investigative results have been forwarded to the Kern County District Attorney's for review. Marquez is still employed with CHP, but no word if he is on leave.
