BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -- A bulletin was issued by Bakersfield College on Tuesday reporting that a student was the victim of an attempted armed robbery in an effort to warn others that the suspect could still pose a threat to others.

The incident happened in the southeast parking lot at the corner of Mt. Vernon and University avenues, according to the bulletin.

The student was approached by a man who was described as Hispanic male in his 20s who was dirty in appearance. When the student refused to give him money, the suspect pulled a knife.

Students are encouraged to report unusual or suspicious activity to the campus' public safety office at 395-4555.
