BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Kern County officials said Thursday that a 2-month-old Rosamond child was murdered.

Deputies were called early Tuesday to the 1800 Block of Elm Street on a report of a child having difficulty breathing. The baby, later identified as Jude Mae Newbold, was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster and died several hours later.

The coroner's office released its autopsy findings Thursday and declared Jude's death a homicide. The baby died of blunt-force trauma to the head and other undetermined factors, the coroner's office said.

The sheriff's office is withholding additional information regarding its investigation. No arrests have been announced.
