ARVIN, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A fire burned two homes Friday afternoon in Arvin, leaving a family of four without a place to live.

The fire erupted just after 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of Haven Drive near South Hill Street.

When Kern County firefighters arrived on scene, a fence, two sheds and a detached garage were fully engulfed in flames. Eventually, one home and part of another caught fire. One resident tried to put out the fire with a hose but couldn't do it.
