BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night on suspicion of killing a pedestrian in a Monday night hit-and-run crash.

Officers were led to Mario Martinez on a tip about a car with "recent damage" that was parked at an apartment complex on the 1400 block of Oregon Street.

A 31-year-old person died the night before in the crash on the 1100 block of Monterey Street. The collision happened around 11:49 p.m. Monday.

The pedestrian's name has not been released, yet.

Martinez was booked into jail on accusations of felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter and being an unlicensed driver.
