This marks Apple's 250th U.S. store and first in Bakersfield. The first 1,000 customers to visit the Valley Plaza Mall location were awarded a free T-shirt.
Regular store hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The new iPhone sales between $199 and $399 with a two-year service agreement through AT&T, Sprint or Verizon Wireless.
Many people had awaited and fall in line outside the apple store a day before the actual release of the iPhone 5. Some had even camp outside the stores for two days just to be first in line.Â
