BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - A fire at an abandoned home in east Bakersfield is considered "very suspicious."

The fire in the 200 block of Wiseman Street was reported around 11:10 a.m. Sunday. It took city and county fire crews about 10 minutes to contain.

Kern County Battalion Chief Sean Fraley said nearby homes were briefly threatened, but thanks to a joint effort with city fire crews - the value of saved property was put around $300,000.

Investigators said the home was previously red-flagged by the building department after a fire a couple years ago.
