With all 105 precincts reporting, Florez received 64.5 percent of the vote and will be the Democratic nominee for the 30th Assembly district seat. She beat longtime family rival Pete Parra.
Fran Florez is the mother of termed-out Senate Majority Leader Dean Florez, D-Shafter, and Pete Parra is the father of former Assemblywoman Nicole Parra.
Nicole Parra crossed party lines two years ago to endorse Republican Danny Gilmore of Hanford as her successor. Gilmore defeated Fran Florez at that time, but Fran Florez is running again after Gilmore decided against seeking a second term.
In the 32nd Assembly district, Grove garnered more than 67 percent of the Republican primary vote to end Kern High School District Trustee Ken Mettler's bid for statewide office.
Grove, CEO of Continental Labor and Staffing Resources, should be elected uncontested to the Assembly seat being vacated by Republican Jean Fuller. Democratic candidate Holly Spohn-Gross previously dropped out of the race .
Fuller is running for the 18th Senate District seat being vacated by the termed-out Roy Ashburn.
Kern County Supervisor Michael Rubio won uncontested for the Democratic nomination for the 16th state Senate district.
Rubio will go against either Republican Phillip Wyman or Republican Tim Thiesen. With all precincts reporting, Thiesen held a 50 percent to 49 percent lead over Wyman, but it wasn't known if Wyman would request a recount with only 182 votes separating them.
In the only contested seat on the Kern County Board of Supervisors, Steve Perez and Zack Scrivner were forced into a runoff, with Mary Beth Garrison barley missing the runoff. They each received between 25 percent and 27 percent of the vote for the 2nd district seat.
County elections officials said Wednesday that they still have about 26,000 absentee ballots and 2,000 provisional ballots to go through, though it's unknown how many of those came from the 2nd district.
In one other local race of note, Chief Deputy District Attorney Lisa Green will be Kern County's new district attorney. She ran unopposed after Ed Jagels decided to retire from the post he's held since 1983.
