Kern Co. firefighter injured at Zaca wildfire

Kern Co. firefighter injured at Zaca wildfire
A Kern County firefighter is seriously hurt while fighting the Zaca wildfire. Eyewitness News has learned a local firefighter fell 30 feet from a rock in the Siscog River Canyon yesterday.

20 year-old Josh Lee is a seasonal firefighter stationed in Democrat Hot Springs. He was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Santa Barbara. Lee is said to have suffered a broken leg and is expected to survive. He has undergone surgery on a broken tibia and fibula in his left leg. The surgery was successful and Lee is now in recovery.

The Zaca wildfire has burned more than 240,000, but is now 90 per cent contained. Full containment is expected for September 7th.

At this time Highway 33 has reopened to the public.
