2 dead in Bodfish mobile home fire
BODFISH, Calif. -- A double-wide mobile home caught fire early Saturday morning on Bodfish Canyon Road near Lake Isabella and the bodies of a man and woman were found inside once it was put out.

Neighbors indicated early on that they believed the couple was home according to a news release from the Kern County Fire Department. The bodies were discovered as firefighters knocked down the fire.

Relatives of the couple, identified only as 67 and 57 year olds, were at the home Sunday morning, but could shed little information on what might have happened.

Fire investigators were not able to determine if the home had a working smoke detector, but said the deaths are an example of what can be prevented with even one working smoke detector.

Autopsies are planned Monday.

The deaths and fire are considered suspicious.
