Elderly woman dies after attackers invade her home
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- An 81-year-old woman died Wednesday night after she was attacked in her home on the 1500 block of Camino Sierra.

It appears that an unknown suspect or suspects entered Dorothy Pauline Session's home through an unlocked rear door and brutally assaulted her, the Kern County Sheriff's Office said. No items were found to be stolen, and the motive is still undetermined.

It's unknown if the woman knew her attackers.

Before the assault, there were apparently two Hispanic or black females and one black male walking through the neighborhood knocking on doors to see if anyone was home. This is a common tactic thieves use to decide whether to burglarize a home, the sheriff's office said.

Anyone with information helpful to the investigation is asked to call the sheriff's office at (661) 391-7587 or the Secret Witness hotline at 322-4040.
