SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — A man suspected of killing five people in the 1970s is expected to show jurors a video of himself on the TV show "The Dating Game" as part of his defense.

Sixty-six-year-old Rodney Alcala is expected to show the video Monday in an Orange County courtroom.

The mother of a 12-year-old Huntington Beach girl he's accused of killing in 1979 says her daughter wore a pair of gold ball earrings that were found in Alcala's possession after his arrest.

But Alcala claims he was wearing the earrings a year earlier when he was the winning bachelor on the "Dating Game" episode.

Alcala, who is defending himself, is being tried a third time for Robin Samsoe's death. His previous convictions were overturned on appeal.

Alcala also is accused of killing four women in Los Angeles County.
