8 Arvin families remain displaced due to gas leak

8 Arvin families remain displaced due to gas leak

ARVIN, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — It's been one week since eight homes on Nelson Court in Arvin were evacuated due to a broken pipeline carrying a petroleum product.

The county put canisters in each of the homes to gather air samples. Tests are underway to see if harmful gasses are still present.

Kern County Public Health Director Matt Constantine said the samples were being tested by a lab outside of Kern County.

He further said that air is only a part of concerns caused by the leak, noting that animals and soil could also be affected.
