By Eyewitness News staff
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A late-night fight in the parking lot outside Que Pasa, a restaurant at the Valley Plaza Mall, ended with three people being stabbed.
The fight and stabbings came to light when police were called to San Joaquin Hospital late Saturday night after one of the victims showed up there for treatment. The incident started when something was thrown into a car as it passed in front of the restaurant. The driver stopped, according to police, and everyone got out and started fighting with several people who were outside the restaurant. During the fight, the car was apparently stolen. The car was later found on South H Street at a market, and 23-year-old Jesus Rangel, its alleged driver, was arrested and charged with grand theft auto and possession of a stolen vehicle. One of the original occupants of the vehicle was later identified as 25-year-old Cipriano Ramirez of Bakersfield. He was arrested on suspicion of committing three counts of assault with a deadly weapon. Two of the stabbing victims remain hospitalized, one was treated and released. |
