BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Kern County Sheriff's deputies are calling a woman's death "suspicious" after her body was found Friday morning in the El Don Motel on South Union Avenue.
Deputies withheld the woman's name, but a bystander at the scene who claimed to be the dead woman's mother said the woman was 31-year-old Crystal Lopez. The mother, Margie Marshall, said her daughter left behind four children. Marshall said Lopez called her last night to say she had been threatened with a gun. Marshall also said Lopez had a drug problem, and she said a friend told her that Lopez hung herself. Deputies wouldn't say how Lopez died. "She did a lot of things, but she was my daughter," Marshall said. "She was asking for help. She was crying out for someone to help her." |
