1 dead, 2 hurt in Famoso Porterville Hwy. crash
By Eyewitness News staff
KERN COUNTY, Calif. -- A two-mile stretch of Famoso Porterville Highway south of Peterson Road was shut down for more than two hours Thursday morning after a deadly crash.
Two trucks -- a 1995 Ford F-350 and 1995 Ford F-150 -- crashed head-on just before 6 a.m., sending both drivers to Kern Medical Center and taking the life of a passenger. The driver of the F-350, which was converted into a flatbed, swerved into the opposing lane, according to the California Highway Patrol. It's unknown what caused that driver, 45-year-old Roberto Camacho, of Porterville, to cross the center line. Camacho's passenger, 29-year-old Alejandro Valencia Magana, of Porterville, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner's office. The CHP said Camacho received moderate injuries, and the other driver, 28-year-old Luis Raul Nunez, of McFarland, received major injuries. ![]() |
