Sacramento attorney sentenced in fondling case
By Associated Press
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A Sacramento divorce attorney accused of fondling five female clients is going to prison.
Fifty-eight-year-old Gary Appelblatt was sentenced to 18 months in prison Tuesday after pleading no contest to four counts of sexual battery and one count of attempted sexual battery. The judge also ordered him to register as a sex offender. Authorities say Appelblatt molested the women during divorce consultations by pretending he was a pharmacist and wanting to examine their health. He allegedly used a stethoscope to check their breathing and performed or tried to perform breast exams. Several of Appelblatt's alleged victims told the court he took advantage of their vulnerability. Appelblatt apologized before his sentencing and said he has "mental issues." ___ Information from: The Sacramento Bee |
