RIDGECREST, Calif. -- A 30-year-old woman apparently fell 100 feet to her death Sunday while exploring an abandoned mine.

Sheriff's deputies, firefighters and search-and-rescue volunteers helped pull Linda Marie Rose's body out of the mine shaft.

An unidentified witness called for help after Rose fell at the Tungstun Peak Mine, located one mile south of the intersection of Highways 14 and 395, according to a Kern County Sheriff's Office news release.
