Health care meeting stresses CSUB security
By Betsy Lambert, Eyewitness News
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A town hall meeting about health care reform is creating a security headache for Chief Claudia Neal and her California State University, Bakersfield police force.
Congressman Kevin McCarthy is hosting the meeting Wednesday at CSUB's Icardo Center. "It is a political event, and it is controversial with very strong feelings on both sides," Neal said Monday about the health care meetings that have been held around the country. "We know that people can get pretty emotional over those things." Neal said bomb-sniffing dogs will be brought in, and a sweep of the facility and surrounding area will be completed before the event begins at 5:30 p.m. "We're not going to allow any large bags or backpacks or signs of any kind in the Icardo center itself," Neal said. |
