Two separate big-rig accident shut down southbound interstate 5 over the grapevine for a few hours this morning.

The first accident happened just after 2 am this morning.

The driver lost control of the truck which started rolling backwards on northbound I-5 causing the truck to overturn and land in the southbound lanes. That driver had no injuries.

And just before 5 am this morning, another big-rig, traveling northbound on I-5 slid on ice, hit the center divider and jack-knifed into the southbound lanes.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of that truck was taken to a Los Angeles area hospital.

The second accident blocked all southbound lanes of the highway near Fort Tejon closing the interstate until 7am this morning.

The CHP says speed and icy conditions lead to both accidents.

Officers caution the conditions are icy and drivers should use caution.
