Toddler dies after falling into pool
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A 13-month-old boy has died after falling into a backyard pool over the weekend.

The boy's family confirmed Monday night that the boy died sometime after the Saturday morning incident. The family declined further comment.

Officials from Madera County, where Children's Hospital Central California in located, said Wednesday that the cause of death was drowning. They also identified the boy as Izaiah Contreras.

Emergency crews at the scene said they were optimistic about the boy's shot at surviving after they regained a pulse in the child en route to the hospital.

The boy's mother had been performing CPR on the child before emergency crews arrived at the home on the 7200 block of Etter Street.
