BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A 64-year-old man was hit and killed by an SUV Tuesday night in south Bakersfield.
The Kern County Coroner withheld the man's name until his next of kin could been notified. The man was on foot about 10 p.m. when he was stuck by a vehicle on the 4400 block of Gosford Road. Witnesses said the man was trying to catch up with some people who had just left 24 Hour Fitness, but Kern County Sheriff's investigators haven't said officially what happened. Kern County Fire Battalion Chief Vernell Brothers said the man was thought to be intoxicated.
