Anthony Ray Graham Jr. pleads not guilty Tuesday to charges of kidnapping a woman from a shopping center and sexually assaulting her at a nearby school.
Anthony Ray Graham Jr. pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of kidnapping a woman from a shopping center and sexually assaulting her at a nearby school.

A Kern County Superior Court judge set Graham's bail at $3 million during the arraignment, which came three days after Graham was arrested in Los Angeles.

Graham, 28, is accused of using a gun to abduct a 31-year-old woman and her 11-month-old child Jan. 29 from outside Babies "R" Us on Rosedale Highway. He allegedly forced the woman to drive to an ATM and withdraw money before forcing her to drive to Fruitvale Junior High School so he could sexually assault her in her parked car.

Kern County District Attorney Ed Jagels also said Tuesday that police recovered DNA evidence at the crime scene using saliva to link Graham to the attack.

Graham was questioned by police over the weekend in Los Angeles for being illegally parked, and he was taken into custody after officers realized there was an outstanding warrant out for him regarding the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault in Bakersfield.

Graham is due back in court March 16.
