Task force will tackle smuggling at SoCal ports

By Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Federal and local law enforcement agencies have formed a new task force to clamp down on smuggling at the country's largest port complex.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says nine federal, state and local agencies have banded together to crack down on smuggling at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

The task force is one of 11 around the country aimed at breaking up criminal organizations that threaten border security. They have largely been set up in key spots along the country's northern and southern borders.
