String of commercial burglaries has police asking for help

At The Finish Line Bicycle shop on Stockdale Highway, thieves used a pick up truck to back into and smash the glass doors as a way to get into the business.

"These smash and grab incidents, they know that if they can get in and out in 30 seconds or so they pretty much have it made," said owner
Allan Bradley.

At least 30 commercial burglaries have hit southwest Bakersfield since August say police. And it's a variety of victims.

"We have doctor's offices, retail establishments as well as commercial offices," said Bakersfield Police Sgt. Greg Terry.

Police are asking for community assistance in identifying suspects.
And the burglaries are not just limited to the southwest. At R.Tillery Powersports on North Chester Avenue, thieves also used a vehicle to back into the door.

Though they got inside, they were apparently unable to steal of the motorcycles. Police respond but the thieves got away.

"You gotta be out of your mind to do some of the stuff they're doing,"said business owner Scott Tillery.
