2nd mistrial in murder case against young woman

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The second round of prosecution of a young defendant accused in the murder of an 81-year-old woman has also ended in mistrial.

The latest hung jury was declared Friday for Angelique Nash in Kern County court. A mistrial was also declared in September, when Nash's two co-defendants were convicted of first-degree murder.

All three defendants were charged as adults, even though they were under 18 when Dorothy Session was killed in April 2010. Sister Katila Nash was 15 at the time of the murder. David Moses and Angelique Nash were both 17 at the time.

Moses and the two Nashes were accused of using an unlocked back door to break into Session's home on the 1500 block of Camino Sierra. They attacked Session during an attempted burglary.

The runaway teens were seen knocking on doors in the neighborhood before the attack. Authorities said that's a common tactic for burglars looking for targets, although nothing was stolen from Session's home.

The Kern County court website shows a scheduled date later this month to set a retrial date for Angelique Nash.
