Seized horses won't face euthanasia

By Associated Press

SACRAMENTO (AP) - An outpouring of public support means seven rescued horses are no longer facing death.

The horses were among 47 animals El Dorado County authorities seized in April from a ranch where they were being neglected. The animals were given sanctuary at the nonprofit Grace Foundation in El Dorado Hills.

But when the nonprofit group warned it could no longer care for the horses, animal service officials said they would be forced to put the animals down.

That announcement brought in calls from people wanting to adopt and sponsor the horses.

Tricia Esparza of the Grace Foundation said adoptions for all seven horses have either been completed or are pending.
