Valley woman whose mother found in waste arrested

By Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) - A woman from the San Fernando Valley has been arrested after authorities found her 85-year-old mother covered in her own waste. The mother died hours later.

Authorities say 54-year-old Belinda Feldman has been arrested on suspicion of elder abuse.

She shared a home in the Chatsworth area with her mother Elise Glatstein.

Police spokeswoman Karen Smith says police received a call Saturday about Glatstein, and officers arrived at the house to find her in her bedroom in "very poor condition." Glatstein died at a hospital 11 hours later.

Smith says there were no signs of violence, but Glatstein had been left in her own waste for an extended period.

The coroner's office has not yet determined the cause of death.

Feldman was released on $50,000 bail.
