Woman is attacked and her dog killed by a neighbor's pit bull

A woman was attacked and her pet dog killed last night by a neighbor’s pit bull.

Lori Venters says she was outside her home in the 1700 block of Cherry Street with her pet pomeranian when the neighbors' dog got out of the garage.

She says the animal knocked her down then badly mangled her dog crushing its pelvis. The dog had to be put to sleep.

Venters' husband says when he called police to have the dog taken away they were told officers couldn't do it because the pit bull never bit his wife.

The neighbor eventually agreed to give up the pit bull, and it was taken away by Animal Control.

We called police to find out when they can take an animal away but have not heard back from them yet.
