BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man was sentenced Friday morning to 25 years to life in prison, plus another six-year term, for killing a little boy.

Dustin Wedel was found guilty in November of first-degree murder and two assault and cruelty charges in the 2011 death of 3-year-old James Fanshier, of Taft.

Fanshier died from multiple blunt force injuries, the coroner's office concluded.

The boy was living with Wedel and his father's ex-girlfriend, Stormie Roberts, at the time of his death.
