More firefighters on Piute Fire, meeting being held tonight
A public meeting is being held for Kern River Valley residents in regards to the Piute Fire burning since the weekend.
The fire has burned 14,523 acres as of Thursday morning and is only 15 per cent contained. The fire is threatening 1,231 buildings and has already destroyed 7 structures. The meeting is Thursday, July 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Lake Isabella Senior Center. The purpose of the meeting is to update the community about the fire. More than 1,300 firefighters from Kern County, the U.S. Forest Service, Cal Fire and the Bureau of Land Management. |
