By Jose Gaspar, Reporting
"It breaks my heart. I get really emotional about it," said Tehachapi City Councilman Ed Grimes.
Grimes was devastated seeing the historic Tehachapi train depot burn down shortly after 3am Friday. The building is more than 100 years old and was originally built in 1904. The historic train depot was under restoration to be used by the city for commercial and retail space and museum. The fire destroyed about $1 million in property and city leaders say the loss to the community cannot be measured. Ed Grimes, Tehachapi City Councilman, "I was sick to my stomach, it is like losing one of my own." The cause of the fire is under investigation. |
