Pet over population is bringing a mandatory spay and neuter ordinance before the County Supervisors on Tuesday for a final decision.

Last year nearly 19,000 pets were put down because of the pet over population and county leaders want the number to drop.

The Kern County Animal control commission drafted an ordinance and conducted ten workshops getting feedback from the public.

A number of issues were raised and revisions were made to the ordinance draft that could make it mandatory to spay or neuter your pets.

The final decision falls in the hands of County Supervisors June 10th.
