19 arrested in clampdown on Bakersfield prostitution

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Authorities on Thursday announced 19 arrests during a prostitution sweep.
Members of the Bakersfield Police Department/Sheriff's Department Joint Vice Task Force conducted a "prostitution suppression operation" Tuesday, according to the police department.
Officers conducted the operation at numerous Bakersfield locations: Union Avenue, Baker Street, V Street, Buck Owens Boulevard, North Chester Avenue, Oak Street and the Highway 99 corridor.
The target areas included both residential neighborhoods and business districts where officers received prostitution complaints.
