Arrest made in 2010 baby death
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The stepfather of a baby found dead in his south Bakersfield home two years ago was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of murder.
Sheriff's investigators said Carlos Ruben Laguna-Sanchez was identified as a suspect early on, but the investigation into the boy's death was just completed and sent to the Kern County District Attorney's office for review.
A warrant was issued earlier this month for Laguna-Sanchez's arrest. Detectives located him Wednesday at a home in the 5100 block of Jonah Street, where he was arrested without incident.
Laguna-Sanchez is jailed with bail set at $1 million. According to the sheriff's website, he's scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday morning.
