Ex-CSUB students reach hazing plea deal

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Former California State University, Bakersfield students accused of hazing have reached a plea deal with prosecutors.

Deandre Horn, Philemon Norris and Ryan Nichols all pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor count of "method of initiation/pre-initiation into school organization." Horn also pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery on a person.

Norris and Nichols will return to court in March 2014 for a conditional dismissal hearing, which means if they stay out of trouble until then, the hazing charge will be dismissed.

Horn was sentenced to 10 days in jail with credit for 10 days and was placed on summary probation for three years.

The trio allegedly abused four CSUB students in April 2011 during initiation to Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. The alleged victims were beaten and shot with a BB gun or pellet pistol.
