1 dead in crash south of Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Police are still investigating the cause of a crash that killed one man after his pickup left the roadway and hit a tree on South Union Avenue near the Shafter Road intersection Friday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol said the man was driving northbound on South Union at around 3:10 p.m. Friday. He was traveling in excess of 100 mph when his 2008 Ford F-150 left the road for an unknown reason and slammed into a tree.
The truck was immediately engulfed in flames and the driver was killed on impact.
No other information was immediately available.
