Cyclists honor fallen comrade with evening ride

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Local cyclists will observe the three-year anniversary of the death of one of their own with a memorial ride, beginning at 6 p.m. at downtown's Liberty Bell.

Alton Saceaux, 55, was killed in June 2009 while riding along South Union Avenue. Saceaux was thrown off his bike and sustained fatal injuries when he was hit by a drunk driver.

Douglas Kaiser pleaded no contest in October to driving while drunk and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. He was sentenced to 10 months in jail and a little more than four years probation.
