Firefighters battle flames at industrial yard
Investigators are trying to determine what caused a mound of metal to catch fire outside a southeast Bakersfield industrial business.

At about 8:00p.m. Monday, 12 Kern County Firefighters rushed to Golden State Metals in the 2000 block of Brundage Lane for reports of a fire. When crews arrived, they found a large mound of scrap metal engulfed in smoke and flames. Firefighters used a special truck with the capability to drop 1,000 gallons of water per minute to put out the fire.

Industrial Street, a small side road, was also closed between Virginia Avenue and Brundage Lane while crews worked on extinguishing the flames.

No one was injured in the fire.
