BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Punishment was handed down Friday for a man who caused a fatal crash last year.
Albert Garza ran a stop sign near Shafter, slamming his SUV into a pickup and killing 19-year-old Manuel Cantu and 36-year-old Hans Marlette.
Garza was found guilty in June on two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
He was sentenced Friday in Kern County court to two consecutive terms of 15 years to life in prison.
The picture that was displayed around the 12 second mark is Hans Marlette, just for clarification. It's not Manuel (the passenger in Garza's car who was killed).
His girlfriend tried to protect him, saying she needed him for a role model for her children (the ones he didn't kill". I ask her, "Is this a good enough role model???
15 years? to life? I wonder if his victims will return to life in 15 years. Garza is scum of the earth, always has been, always will be.
Why the long face, SeÅor Garza? You look like you were sentenced to a place where there is no humor.
Â
There will be Pity Parties and all the warm beer you can drink. Maybe comedian Joey Garza can visit you and cheer you up.
Â
Maybe it wonât be too long a stay. Smiles, 'cause life's a charge !
