A report of someone trying to get into moving vehicles in the 300 block of Shaw Avenue is what led to an officer being dispatched to the neighborhood, according to a department news release.

When officer Joe Hayes tried to make contact with the man matching the suspect's description, the man ran towards him and tried to take his gun. Camilo Bacerra Lopez Jr. was shot in the hand and lower torso during the struggle.
