BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A man who hit and killed a cyclist in 2009 has entered a plea of no contest to driving while drunk and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence.
Douglas Kaiser was arraigned in July 2009 but didn't enter his plea until Monday in Kern County court. Four other charges were dismissed in the plea deal.
Kaiser ran his pickup into cyclist Alton Saceaux, 55, in June 2009 while Saceaux rode along South Union Avenue.
Kaiser is scheduled for sentencing Dec. 12.
