Schwarzenegger's mistress, love child live in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Media outlet TMZ on Tuesday night uncovered the name of the woman who had Arnold Schwarzenegger's love child more than 10 years ago, shedding light on a secret Schwarzenegger kept through two terms in the California governor's office.

Eyewitness News conducted a search of public records Tuesday night and found that the reported mistress, Mildred Patricia Baena, who goes by Patty, lives in northwest Bakersfield.

Schwarzenegger said in a statement early Tuesday that he had fathered the child of a longtime household staff member, and that the woman continued to work in the family's Brentwood home until January.

Baena was a housekeeper and assistant to the Schwarzenegger family for more than 20 years.

Radar Online is reporting that Baena had threatened to go public with their affair after Schwarzenegger fired her in an effort to save his crumbling marriage, but other media outlets are reporting that Baena simply retired.

Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, announced earlier this month that they were separating and that Shriver had moved out, although they did not give a reason at the time beyond a reference to difficult transitions.

Folks in Baena's neighborhood off Noriega Road and Jewetta Avenue say the family is always cordial. Schwarzenegger reportedly bought the home for Baena, and public records show it was purchased last June. TMZ reports that she lives at the home with the boy fathered by Schwarzenegger and her three other children.
