CSU chancellor encourages African-Americans to go to college

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — St. John Missionary Baptist Church had a special visitor Sunday. However he wasn't preaching about religion. He was encouraging teens to go to college.

The chancellor of the California State University system, Charles Reed, was in Bakersfield for "Super Sunday," which is an initiative to help increase college admission of African-American students.

Reed said they go to churches because that's where most of the African-American community can be reached.
