E.coli scare closes school

E.coli scare closes school
The Piute Mountain School will be closed until next Thursday because E. coli has turned up in the water system.

As Eyewitness News reported exclusively Wednesday, two water samples tested positive for E.coli. The school brought in bottled water, and boiled water when the contamination first showed up on Monday.

Thursday administrative assistant Cindy Douglass told Eyewitness News they will close the school while the water system is disinfected.
State health officials tell us, repeat tests showed E. coli in two samples.

The contamination is not in the water tank, but appears to be in the water pipes. They still don't know the source of the E. coli.

The school has 86 students. None of them will be allowed to return to class until next Thursday.
