BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 21-year-old man from Lost Hills was killed Wednesday in a crash that shut down Highway 33 near the Aera Energy facility for several hours.

The California Highway Patrol said the man was northbound on Hwy. 33 in a Nissan car around 3:40 p.m. when he drifted onto the dirt shoulder, got back onto the roadway and then slid into the path of an oncoming Peterbilt truck.

The truck driver couldn't stop in time and hit the driver's side of the Nissan.

The truck's driver was not injured.

The coroner will release the name of the man from Lost Hills.
