Scam alert: Phishing email not from Amazon

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Amazon.com is actively investigating a phishing scam that has recently been brought to Eyewitness News' attention.

Many people have reported getting emails with "Amazon.com Your Cancellation" in the subject line.

The emails appear to be from Amazon, but the company says they are not.

If you get a similar email, especially if you haven't recently placed an order with Amazon, the company suggests simply deleting it. If you have responded or provided any personal information to the forged website, Amazon suggests you visit your Amazon account and update your password.

This type of email is known as a phishing scam and aims to get you to reveal personal information.
