Juvenile shot in the back

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the call of a male juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound to his back on Saturday evening at approximately 8 p.m.

The shooting occurred in the 1400 block of East 10th Street.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim and another male juvenile were walking in the area of East 9th Street and South Baker Street. The suspect exited a green Honda hatchback and shot the victim. The suspect, who is only described as a Hispanic male, then fled eastbound in his vehicle on Potomac Street.

The victim was later transported to a local area hospital with wounds that weren't deemed life-threatening.
