BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A funeral home being investigated for financial fraud now faces the risk of closure after inspectors found code violations throughout the building, according to Bakersfield Code Enforcement.

Code Enforcement Supervisor Wanda Neal said inspectors found electrical, mechanical and plumbing violations during an inspection, which came after nine bodies were found improperly stored at Belove Care Funeral Services.

Beloved Care now has until Monday to correct the issues or face closure.

"As of now, a notice has gone out to the property owner, as well as the tenant, for the violations that we found," Neal said. "Since it's on a Friday, we will not go out until the following Monday. So he does have over the weekend to try and get some of those things taken care of."

Calls put in to the owner of the funeral home, James Gamble, were not returned.
