BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) - On July 1, a man walked into Dr. Dawson Li’s optometry office, but this man wasn’t looking to pay.

Li said the man swiped five sunglasses valued at over $1,200.

“There’s right and wrong, and that’s definitely not the right thing to do," said Li.

But, what the man didn’t know was it was all caught on security camera.

Li brought the video to the police, but then he brought it one step further.

Li posted the surveillance video on the Eyewitness News Facebook page. He said within 24 hours, it had over 5,000 views.

“I thought this would be a good way to get it out there,” said Li. “In a town like Bakersfield, maybe you’ll think twice.”

Now Li is hoping the suspected thief see his flaws.

“I hope the gentleman sees it, so he can see that he was busted," the doctor said.
